This internship will offer  the candidate a unique opportunity to participate in the Mission’s multilateral work as an integral part of the UK delegation to the UN, and in particular the World Health Organisation (WHO), under the guidance of senior staff. The candidate will sit within the Health Team and provide support to the daily functioning of the team and its objectives.




The internship will also offer the candidate an opportunity to get insight into the work of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and the Department of Health and Social Care, and to learn about working on multilateral issues in an international context.




Duties-




Monitoring meetings and events at the WHO and the UN, drafting reports from these meetings and, once cleared, circulating to relevant policy leads across government.


Participating and supporting in the organising of events and high-level visits.


Other administrative tasks as required.






Essential qualifications, skills and experience -




Fluency in English (both oral and written);


Bachelor’s Degree, ideally in the field of health, international development or international relations;


Prior relevant internship or work experience in the field of health or at the UN, in health policy and/or diplomacy.




Desirable qualifications, skills and experience-


  


Knowledge of French or another UN language would be an asset;


Master’s Degree or equivalent, ideally in the field of health, international development or international relations.

Candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Switzerland and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the duration of the internship.




The UK Mission will offer the intern a monthly training allowance of 1,450 CHF. 




The Mission offers a contribution to the payment of travel insurance for the duration of internship, in place of Private Swiss Health Insurance that includes health & accident cover for all interns.

2) World Bank Internship Program




Internship program from the World bank is known as The Bank Internship Program (BIP)




It offers highly motivated individuals an opportunity to be exposed to the mission and work of the World Bank. The internship allows individuals to bring new perspectives, innovative ideas and research experience into the Bank's work, while improving skills in a diverse environment.




 




Eligibility-




Candidates must have an undergraduate degree and be enrolled in a full-time graduate study program (pursuing a master's degree or PhD with plans to return to school full-time). There is no age limit.




Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of languages such as: French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Portuguese, and Chinese is desirable. Other skills such as computing skills are advantageous.






This internship typically seeks candidates for: Operations (Front Line) in the following fields: economics, finance, human development (public health, education, nutrition, population), social sciences (anthropology, sociology), agriculture, environment, engineering, urban planning, natural resources management, private sector development, and other related fields; or Corporate support (Accounting, Communications, Human Resources Management, Information Technology, Treasury, and other corporate services).






 During the internship, World Bank pays an hourly salary to all Interns and, where applicable, provides an allowance toward travel expenses up to USD 3,000 at the discretion of the manager. These travel expenses can only include transport expenses (airfare) to or from the duty station city. 




Most Intern positions are based in Washington, DC with a few others in the World Bank country offices. Usually, internship opportunities are of a minimum of four weeks.






The World Bank Internship is offered twice a year-




 Summer Internship (May–September): The application period is December 1–January 31 each year.




•Winter Internship (November–March): The application period is October 1-31 each year.

3) WHO Internship Programme




Benefits -




WHO provides all interns with medical and accident insurance coverage during the duration of the internship period. 




As of January 2020, WHO provides living allowance to eligible selected interns who need financial support. All interns must complete a legal Declaration of Interests form. This form requires intern candidates to declare any relevant financial disclosures, including any financial support in the form of grants bursaries, scholarships, etc. Based on the information provided in this form, the intern candidates’ eligibility to receive financial support from WHO will be assessed.  




Lunch vouchers may be provided at some duty stations. 






Eligibility -




Age-


At least twenty years of age on the date of application.




Education-


Candidate should be enrolled in a course of study at a university or equivalent institution leading to a formal qualification (undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate), in a public health, medical or social field related to the technical work of WHO, or in a management, administrative, communications, or external relations-related field. Applicants who have already completed a qualification may also qualify for consideration, if they apply to the internship within six months following the completion of the formal qualification. One has to have completed three years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution prior to starting (bachelor's level or equivalent) the internship.




Languages- 


Candidate  should be fluent at least in one of the working languages of the office of assignment.




Family relation-


Candidates should not related to a WHO staff member (e.g., son/daughter, brother/sister, or mother/father).




Nationality- 


Candidate should  hold a valid passport of a WHO Member State.




Other condition -


Candidate should have not previously participated in WHO’s Internship Programme.
